BIO

Pia Pilar Reynaldo

Pia Pilar Reynaldo was born in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Reynaldo is an abstract painter.  Her abstract paintings are powerful, meditative, and emotional.  They represent feelings of the present and of the past.  Her distinctive style is representative in her strong brush strokes that project movement, and raw passion.

Recently, Reynaldo exhibited her painting “& Y” at  the Woman 2 Woman group show featuring 30 plus artists from around the world in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, March 25, 2023 presented by Bojitt Studio and Xced Design Building. Reynaldo’s painting “Silencing Explodes” was featured in Windows to the Inside Expressions of Mental Health Online Exhibition March 1 through April 30, 2023 presented by Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, Illinois.

Reynaldo was recognized and awarded the “Outstanding Emerging Artist” in January 2021 for HerStory 2020-2021 an online exhibition of Art by Women, presented by the Manhattan Arts International. In February 2022 Reynaldo's painting "Malicious Whispers" received Special Recognition Category for Excellence in Art and featured in the 11th Annual All Women Art Exhibition presented by Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery. May 2021 her painting "Solitude's Expectations" was selected in The Healing Power of ART In Honor of Nature Online Exhibition, and in October 2021 her painting "Malicious Whispers" was featured “The Healing Power of ARTS & ARTISTS website, an online article about artists and the influence of nature in their process to creating art. She also received Special Recognition for her work "I Was Called A Transfer Monkey'"in the 12th Annual Abstracts Art Exhibition March 2021 presented by Light Space & Time Online Gallery.

Each of Reynaldo’s paintings takes you on a journey of colors and shapes, which are built through many layers of paint and the application of markings and other materials, using different tools, expressing visual determination and balance. “My paintings are very emotional, bringing moments in time and experience to the surface. I want people to have their own sensations when they look at my artwork.”

Throughout her life, Reynaldo has always had an introspective conceptual view of the world.  She saw everyday patterns; in objects, fabric, and nature with curiosity that one could bend these things into something different. Having overcome many obstacles as a young girl, drawing and sketching was a way to communicate.  Naturally she became attracted to abstract painting. It is the genre of art that allowed her to express her feelings.

Reynaldo earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Graphic Design with an emphasis in art studies from Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  She held many jobs as a graphic artist, illustrator, editorial stylist, and assistant buyer for women’s clothing. Eventually, Reynaldo started to paint full time in 2017.  Reynaldo’s work has been exhibited online with "The Healing Power of ART In Honor of Nature" an initiative of Manhattan Arts International, “HerStory 2020-2021” An Exhibition of Art by Women, presented by the Manhattan Arts International, and the 12th Annual "Abstracts" Art Exhibition presented by Light Space & Time Online Gallery. Reynaldo exhibited at The Other Art Fair 2019 Chicago, Illinois, presented by Saatchi Art.  Reynaldo's work has been on view at the Vail Public Library, Vail, Colorado in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
